"Thick Autumn Fog Descends"
All the different Japanese names for fog are so beautiful! On a cool fall morning, I love to see the "steam fog" (asagiri or kawagiri?) rising from the pond where I hike. We've not had a cool enough night here in North Carolina for this yet, though.
I had a look, and there's two options I think would suit fog rising from a forested lake:
- jōkigiri (蒸気霧), which is literally "steam fog"
- koshōgiri (湖沼霧), which is the fog rising off ponds, lakes, and marshlands
Hopefully things cool off soon there!
