The cherry blossom petals are starting to fall here in North Carolina. Hana-fubukui!!! I love knowing there’s a word for this.🌸

It's quite a lovely image isn't it! A blossom-blizzard

A few more terms that give great visuals:

- hana-ikada (花筏), a "flower raft," which is when fallen petals float on a lake or river

- hana-akari (花明かり), that faint bit of light that cherry blossoms seem to give off at night

- ō-un (桜雲), how a tree in full bloom looks like a cloud
